mynameisharrylin.onmay25,1958,iwaorninxinying,alittletowniouthernfujian.myfatherisafarmer,plantingbananasandpineales,andmymothertakescareofthehouse.ihavetwobrothersandonesister.thoughnotwell-to-do,myparentshavebeenabletoprovidethewholefamilywithsufficientmeatolivedecentlyandenjoyallmodernconveniences.myearlyeducationwasreceivedinmyhometown,i.e.sixyearsirimaryschoolandthreeyearsinjuniormiddleschool.aftercompletingnineyearsofformaleducationin1958.iwenttoxiamenandparticipatedinthejointentranceexaminationforfive-yearjuniorcolleges.fortunately,iwasadmittedtothedepartmentofelectricalengineeringatxiamenjuniorengineeringcollege.ichoseelectricalengineeringasmymajorbecause,ontheonehand,ilikedphysicsverymuch;andontheotherhand,electricalindustryisamajorsectoroftheeconomyofchina.thefiveyearsofinteivetrainingcametoanendinjune1978whenireceivedadiploma.andinjuly1980.iwashiredbynanyaplasticcompanyandhaveservedasajuniorelectricalengineeratthecompanytothepresent.ienjoytheworkandfeelcompetentforthejob.

inworking,however,ivefoundthatwhatihavelearnedichoolislimitedandfarfromsufficienttohandlesophisticatedjo.therefore,ihavedecidedtoextendmyeducationandwouldliketoenteranamericanititutionfirstlytoearnabachelorsdegreeinelectricalengineering.then,ifpoible,iwouldliketocontinuemyeducationtowardamastersdegree.
