一、课题来源及研究的目的和意义

(一)课题来源

批评性话语分析(critical discourse analysis, cda)是20 世纪70 年代末期语篇分析领域发展起来的一个重要的研究方向和研究方法。在分析方法上，批评性话语分析坚持以 m. a. k. halliday的系统功能语法作为分析工具，通过观察语言特点和它们生成的历史背景来解释语言结构背后的意识形态意义，进而揭示语言、权利和意识形态之间的关系。批评性话语分析被应用在许多不同种类语篇的分析中，但最常见的是对新闻语篇的分析。随着社会的不断发展，新闻成为了大多数人获得外部信息的主要途径之一。关于南海问题相关的新闻报道在近几年一直受到关注，那么，就中美两国之间对于南海问题的看法上所具有的意识形态差异就是一个值得探讨的问题。因此本文尝试从批评性话语分析的角度，对中美媒体关于南海问题的新闻报道做全面的对比分析，通过分析双方在分类、情态，转换，及物性等方面的差异及其原因来揭示隐藏在语言中的意识倾向。
